MY PAINTING TRIPS TO PARIS
I love traveling around the world
to seek out new visual experiences.
In this case, it was the beautiful city of Paris usually in the fall.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time
wandering through museums and galleries
and feel truly spoiled for the abundance of choice.
An art-themed trip to Paris is perfect because
it has such a wealth of world-class museums and art galleries
of every imaginable type to enjoy.
For artists like myself,
that abundance can be quite overwhelming at first,
which is why I visit Paris as often as I can!

SALMAGUNDI CLUB
IN NEW YORK CITY
Going to painting shows is one of my favorite things to do.
And formost on my list of places to do this
is at the famous Salmagundi Club’s
historic brownstone building (shown above)
located in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City.
Among many other things,
the club hosts the annual
American Watercolor Society Award Show,
which I make a point of seeing each year.
Salmagundi is an organization created in 1871,
by artists and patrons, to support one another
and to encourage the advancement of art of all kinds.
Beginning in 1917,
the organization moved to its permanent home
within its historic brownstone mansion shown here.
The mansion hosts hundreds of yearly art exhibitions,
painting demonstrations, lectures, concerts,
group meetings, classes, workshops,
fellow member organization exhibitions and art auctions.
Salmagundi facilities include three club and rental galleries,
a rare pre-dewey decimal art library,
an elegant period parlor for exhibitions and meetings,
a members’ only restaurant and bar
where members can go after work
to meet fellow artists and friends for drinks and conversation.
For an artist like myself,
the Salmagundi Club is my go to place in New York City.

MY PAINTING TRIPS TO HAWAII
I love Hawaii
and have visited it many times over the years.
For a time, I actually lived there for 2 years when I was younger.
I’m fascinated by its beaches and mountains.
Especially the rainforest on the big island of Hawaii.
But I have to admit, it’s kind of hard painting watercolors there
because a rain storm can (and often does) happen
right in the middle of executing a really good-looking painting.
But that doesn’t discourage me.
I just cover everything up (including myself)
wait for the rain to stop and just continue along.
Maybe moving my brush just a little quicker this time
so I don’t get hit by the next storm!

MY PAINTING TRIPS TO LONDON
London is a special place for me.
And I often try to visit the city especially around Christmas time.
During that time, it’s the place to be.
From the shops, to the restaurants, and even at the high-end hotels,
the holiday experience can’t be beat.
More text to come.
