Born, raised, and living for most of my life in New York City,
I find a great deal of inspiration in the big city,
with its diverse neighborhoods and streets and people
who make it unique.

There is a beauty within the everyday and ordinary that,
for me, only painting can reveal.
I'm drawn to these subjects by various forms of
shape, color, contrast and pattern,
in hopes of making and sharing such discoveries.
Through the process of painting, I gain new and deeper insight
into my subject and its surroundings
as these elements combine and communicate.

The act of seeing without really seeing or noticing our everyday surroundings is the plague I think of modern life.

I feel the most important motive in painting
lies in understanding my surroundings.

I'm constantly striving
to understand the world around me though my art.
It’s an ongoing never ending process that invigorates me
every single day!

The paintings shown on this site
focus on the elevated subway line in New York City.
I may go back to this subject of subways,
that intrigues me so much, at a later date.

But for now I’ve recently begun a new series of
figurative paintings,
showing one solitary figure, usually a female,
in unique and sometimes isolated locations in the city.

So for now, why not check out my current paintings
using the menu bar on the left.
